"Artful Tapestry Handweaving -  Beginners"

Learn to hand weave an artistic design on a portable loom!
  Learn to warp a frame-and-nail loom  and weave a design of several colorful shapes using the techniques of  tabby, slit tapestry, hatching, shading, color blending, selvedge treatments, and Soumak knotting.  Your 4x8" sampler will motivate you to weave a larger something special with your new skills!  Tuition $85; no previous weaving experience is necessary.  Everything you need is furnished in the $25 supply fee, including a take-home loom, all fibers, instruction manual, and miscellaneous equipment. 

Workshops are scheduled as 4 sessions of 3 hours each, typically a week apart, and can be on weekdays or weekends. A minimum of 4 students is required. The next workshop will be in Summer 2014, and can be held at instructor's studio near Winchester, KY, or at a venue closer to you.

 "Artful Tapestry Handweaving - Beyond Beginners"

This is an intermediate tapestry skill class. Prerequisite is the ability to perform basic tabby weaving, color changes, diagonal shapes, and simple hatching. Learn the additional techniques of Pick n Pick, 12 epi design areas, inlaid tapestry, eccentric weft, exposed warp, wrapped warp, and continued support of basic techniques. Class will give guidance in artful designing,  preparation of "cartoon" to follow, and advance planning for borders, hems, casings, tabs, fringes, and cabling. 
Weavers interested in the Beyond Beginners Workshops may help choose dates, times, and location by calling instructor Bev Walker 304-916-0644 to register their preferred schedule. The next Beyond Beginners Workshops are anticipated to begin in summer 2014, at instructor's studio near Winchester, KY, or at a venue near you. A minimum of 4 students is required, and weekend retreats are a possibility (min. 10 hrs. of classtime instruction).  Tuition $85, Supply Fee $15 if using your own small loom, or $25 if you need a loom from instructor.

"Silk Painting for Beginners"

Learn to paint beautiful pictorial designs on silk!  Colorful fiber-reactive dyes and other chemicals are applied to stretched silk, allowed to dry, then steamed for permanence. No previous art experience is necessary. Workshops are offered at artist's studio near Winchester, KY. Typical classes are 2 sessions of 2 hours each and are available on weekdays and weekends
Cost for 2-session workshop $75. Supply fee $20.  Student will dye/paint 2 silk scarves, plus learn shibori and resist techniques on small samplers.

"Artful Stitchery with Pizazz"

Not grandma's embroidery! Draw out your creativity by selecting a variety of fabrics, fibers, and found objects from a cache of color! Using bold stitches, you will create a layered and textured art piece full
of fun and flavor! Workshops are offered at area gallery classrooms and fiber conferences. Typical classes are one session of 3 hours and are available on weekdays and weekends. Cost for 3-hour workshop $45, supply fee $10.  Minimum 4 students per class.
